How epically cool?! I picked these gorgeous almandine garnets up directly from the mine owner. Pit to Pocket!
We had a lovely chat, he spends his days digging these out in Erving, MA and sandblasts to matrix off the garnets. When they are backlit, they are so beautiful! They absolutely glow! Very excited to be able to offer you these special east coast garnet specimens!
His mine is known for producing vibrant red, translucent almandine garnets in a graphite matrix. The vein from which these specimens are extracted is composed primarily of graphite that ranges in size from 1 foot wide, up to 6 feet wide in some spots. The garnets are scattered throughout this graphite matrix.
